What is the difference between Visa Without Reference (VTR) and Visa With Reference (VWR)?
A visa without reference (VTR) is a document issued and authorized by the Malaysian Mission office overseas that allows a non-citizen to enter Malaysia for a social visit. Upon arrival, visitors will be handed a social visit pass valid for 30 days. Remember that a social visit pass is only valid for social visits and does not allow visitors to work or participate in work-related training programmes or studies in Malaysia. After the application is referred to and accepted by Malaysia's Immigration Department, a visa with reference (VWR) is granted by the Malaysian Commission's office overseas to a non-citizen to allow the visitor to enter Malaysia.
Visa Validity
Visas are classified into single-entry visas (SEV) and multiple-entry visas (MEV). The Single Entry Visa is only valid for one entry three months from the issuing date. When the traveller reaches Malaysia, the visa becomes invalid. If a traveller cannot complete the stay within three months, they must submit a new Visa application.
